Black Hole

A gravitational object of extreme mass at the centre of an orbital system. Black hole systems are present in the game world and can be visited, but carry no conventional gameplay mechanics in the current game.

Purpose

Establish black hole systems as a distinct and visually recognizable system type. Their presence in world generation ensures they exist in the universe when gameplay mechanics for extreme environments are introduced.

Player Value

Black hole systems are navigable locations. Their presence makes the game world feel varied and signals that not every system operates under the same conditions as conventional star systems.

Rules

  • A black hole is the centre object of its orbital system. It replaces the star as the system's gravitational anchor.
  • Black hole systems have no habitable zone.
  • Black holes do not produce resources and cannot host sectors or holdings.
  • A black hole system may contain orbiting bodies, but no development can be performed on those bodies in the current game.
  • Black holes are fixed at world creation time. They do not change type.

Player Actions

  • View a black hole system on the galaxy map.
  • Navigate to and view a black hole system.

Constraints

  • Black holes cannot be claimed, colonised, or developed.
  • No extraction or construction mechanics are available in black hole systems in the current game.
  • Black holes cannot be moved or destroyed by players.
