Star
The gravitational anchor at the centre of an orbital system. Stars are present on the system map and define the visual identity of the system, but carry no extraction mechanics in the current game.
Purpose
Establish a visible centre anchor for every orbital system. The star defines the system's visual environment and confirms that a habitable zone exists within it.
Player Value
Knowing a system has a star tells the player it can support conventional development. The star's visual appearance gives each system a distinct identity on the map.
Rules
- Every orbital system has exactly one centre object. A star is the default centre type.
- Stars do not produce resources and cannot host sectors or holdings.
- Binary and triple star configurations are a cosmetic property of the centre cluster. Individual stars within a multi-star cluster are not separately claimable or targetable.
- A star's subtype — yellow dwarf, red dwarf, blue giant, and others — determines visual appearance only. No gameplay mechanic is driven by star subtype.
- Stars are fixed at world creation time. They do not change type.
Player Actions
- View the star as part of a system map.
- View the star's visual subtype.
Constraints
- Stars cannot be claimed, colonised, or developed.
- Stars do not contain or produce extractable resources.
- The number of stars in a system has no gameplay effect.
